The January 2025 President’s Message was a reflection on last year, 2024, so it is only fitting that this month’s message should be focused on 2025. Currently our cultural programs are still being finalized but we will start off in February with Erik finishing his presentation on interesting facts about Norway. Becky and Mark will provide a presentation on their 2024 Saint Olaf Pilgrimage in March. This year marks the 200th year anniversary of Norwegian emigration to the United States and there will be a presentation on Norwegian emigration in April. Several of our members will be taking the Vesterheim Emigration Tour to Norway and they will also do a presentation on the tour in the fall. If you have any areas of interest that you would like to present to the members of the Lodge, please contact James Mattox.

Our cultural/fund raising events this year start with a fish fry on February 15th, followed by a Winter Tea in March,  Frokost in April, Constitution Day celebration in Denver in May and SCANFEST in Golden in June. In the fall we have another fish fry, Lutefisk and our Viking Fair.  Christmas will be a family Potluck. These events are possible due to the many volunteers who are always there when needed. There are other activities to participate in throughout the year such as the Barneloppet, lefse making, language classes, picnics and Rosemaling but if you have any ideas on different activities please see any Board member.

In December’s Flammen I informed the members that the Flammen would only be sent to you by e-mail. I have received one text reference this issue but if you are not receiving your Flammen please give me a call and I will work with you. The Flammen is also available on our web site at www.sonsofnorwaycs.com.

In closing I would encourage everyone to take part in the Heritage meeting where you can share good food and fellowship.  Both Bjorg and I hope everyone had a Happy New Year and we look forward to the upcoming year at the Lodge!

Just a quick reminder that our heritage meetings are moving back to the second Wednesday evening of the month.
